Before you create a new account, please ensure that you don't need to claim an existing account that may have been created by a tournament director from tournaments you've previously played. You can check if you already have an existing account here.

Once it has been verified that you do not need to claim an account, please follow these detailed steps to create your account quickly and efficiently, ensuring you're set up to start participating right away. 

Go to the DUPR website and Signup. There is no cost to get an account.

For a tailored, accurate experience, consider connecting with one of our DUPR Certified coaches at Lakewood Ranch Pickleball Club. They can guide you in organizing a rating session with a group of players, ensuring a thorough evaluation of your skills. This session will assess your performance across essential areas, setting you on the path to an accurate and fair rating.

Another option is to start by participating in matches with other players who are ready to submit their results. This collaborative approach will help establish your initial rating but depending on the other players, might not accurately reflect your true rating

The DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) system utilizes a modified Elo algorithm to update player ratings based on their most recent performance. This system takes into account various factors to ensure a fair and accurate reflection of a player's skill level. The algorithm considers the following factors:

1. Performance vs expectation: How did you do according to the expectation? Every match has an expected score based on the ratings of the players or teams involved. If your team scores more points than expected, your rating goes up. Alternatively, if your team scores fewer points than expected, your rating goes down.

Example: If the favored team was expected to win 11-3 but won 11-8, their rating will go down—they still won, but not as convincingly as expected. The losing team, however, performed better than expected and will see their rating go up.

2. Type of match: Was this a self-posted match, a club match, or a tournament result entered by DUPR? Self-posted matches will count less towards your rating change. A two-out-of-three match will also count more than a one-game match.

3. Match Count and Recency: Do you have a lot of recent matches? If you have a lot of recent matches, your rating is considered more reliable and will change less with each new result. If you’ve played fewer or older matches, your rating may shift more as the system learns about your current skill level.

4. Recency of Match: How recently was this match played? More recent matches have a bigger impact than older ones. A match played today influences your rating more than one played six months ago.
